Don't know the fella but I've seen the "High Regard" with which he's held here.
Don't know the circumstances surrounding that "Regard" either.
All I know is it was within my budget and must be worth what I paid considering the guy that hit it just before I won''(Check bid history)
I just got back from the "Shrink" and forgot to mention the numerophobia thing.Must be all in my head. This makes #11 (Whoo Hoo I just shivered)
Anybody know anything about these things?
I kinda bought it on an impulse,Is that a 3rd Lug I see peeking out of the action?

Interesting gun, congrats. And it didn't hurt your wallet much either. I see that Ed "The Torch" took a shot at it. |

I have a Smith & Wesson 12 Ga Super Skeet auto-loader that came from the factory with a "Tula" skeet choke. I wonder if these terms are related? The Tula choke on my gun is more open and recessed that a standard choke. This gun was previously the property of a member of the US Skeet Team.

Good job! I've always wanted a hammer gun, and that looks like it will clean up nicely. |

Should be a dependable gun, the Russians made things pretty sturdily.
These shotguns were discussed briefly a couple of months ago. Century arms brought in a bunch of used eastern Euro shotguns, Yugo Zastava's, Hungarians, and Russians from both the Izhvesk and Tula arsenals. They were and probably still are selling them for around $150.
The Tula Arsenal was the premiere Russian arsenal, established by Czar Peter the Great.
Paul, your S & W with the "Tula" choke is an interesting piece. The so called Tula choke was developed by the Soviets in the 60's. Supposedly a reverse engineered version of a Cutt's Comp taken from a U S military shooting team member's gun used to gain an advantage for the Russian skeet team. Very interesting story, read about it here

Well,It's here and I've cleaned and shot it.Perfect bores choked .634 and .626.
My kind of chokes .As I suspected she's a vault with 3 locks.Practically unfired judging from the breech face with no discernible rings in the blue.
Wood is strong with lots of rough handling marks and it's certainly not walnut. Quite a bit of light rust freckles that hav'nt turned into pits and wool and oil did'nt remove blue.
The baby scale shows 7 LBS.even with 28 5/16 barrels and balance is right on the hinge.Lop is 15 and 14 1/4. 2" DAH.
The only downside is it takes both thumbs to cock it Dang they had good springs in the old USSR.I'm gonna have to work on that.Overall I think I got pick of the litter and I'm very pleased.Well worth the 200.00 delivered.
I'll pull the side plates and have a look at those leaf springs when I can, maybe
I can fit a set off the Mack truck as replacements |
