I had some good pheasant hunting this weekend. I also managed to bag a mule deer, although I used the pickup truck instead of a 16 gauge for this feat. The truck's cooling system was pretty much out of action after the deer strike and I had to get towed home (truck dropped off at the repair shop to await Monday AM opening). The dog and I suffered no trauma; can't say the same for the deer! |

GWW, I believe that you need to add a rifle to your arsenal. Ammo is a lot cheaper than the front of your truck. |

You'll probably have a couple posters wondering if a 1 ton versus a 1 1/4 ton would have been more effective in dropping that deer??? |

Alas, not much sympathy out of this 16 gauge crew! You all seem more amused than is proper over my misfortune. By the way, I note that my dog is not having any of this time change stuff; he is not impressed with the switch to Standard Time. Hank still wants his supper on Daylight Savings Time. |

Saw a big buck today on campus - on the side of the road just tempting the students (nice 8-point about 200 lbs maybe score 150)
GWW - wanting dinner at daylight savings, no worries. The beagle in the house has barked at 3 am since Sunday to get the rest of us up to go out. Good thing the Boss takes care of it |

GWW, too bad about your truck. Too bad that deer didn't do like the one in the video that is going around of the deer jumping the bike in "the Hills" during the Sturgis rally, amazing, can be found on Youtube, search "deer jumps motorcycle"
Heading out today for a 1 1/2 week mixed bag hunt. Deer season opens tomorrow and I hope to get a big muley, but I won't pass up a shot at a nice whitetail, either can be found in my area. Will be using a "premil" Savage 99F in .300 Sav.
Just hope I don't get one with my SUV. Most people call it a truck, if they are being polite A '74 IH Scout II. It was originally classed as a "station wagon" on the registration, now they call it an SUV. It wouldn't really fit with Foursquare's description of an SUV though as it " Drives like a semi...."
Anyway, I will also be taking along a 16 as season is open on pheasant, quail, chickens, and waterfowl
