We walk through country like this
Leading to this (Beau stole the point from Molly by-the-way)
and resulting in this
FlintSteel took me hunting on his family ranch East of Lubbock. The red on white French Brittany is Beau and the other is his one year old daughter Molly. I was shooting a 16 gauge Gallyon boxlock choked cylinder and 18thou, it weighs 5-11, 28'' barrels, double triggers, made in England in the 20s. It has extractors. Joe was shooting it's twin in 12 gauge but it weighs 6-3.
Best,
Mike |

Those pics bring back old memories. As a kid back in the 60s I cowboyed on the Pitchfork and the 6666's out of Guthrie and there were blues and bobs everywhere.
Only problem then was that us hired hands couldn't hunt them. Rode lots of miles on a bronc through country just like those pics with coveys busting up around you, or in the case of blues, skittering off through the mesquite.
Thanks for sharing. Made my day!

Thanks and you are all welcome.
Rooster 6666 has another ranch south of Borger that I worked on (construction) - about the same story.
I forgot to mention what a good hunting partner Flintsteel is. Real gentlemen and bird hunter.
Best,
Mike |
