Thanks birdhunt, for 16ga news only an insider could get! We'll never read that in Guns & Ammo. Winchester's loss. At least a bunch of others are taking notice that the 16ga is not moribund. |

Brdhnt,
Do you know if the Hevi-Shot Vintager loads are to be lower pressure loadings or just a rebadging of their already existing Classic Doubles line?

Marcus,
They are trying to keep all of the pressures in the new line below 9000 PSI. They are still developing the 16 and 28 gauge line but their 12 gauge stuff is running about 8300 PSI.

Gentlemen:
To follow up on what brdhunt says (I am still waiting for my friends to get back from the shotshow for my report)
The Winchester Trap and Skeet Club is open again this year - this after the sale of the Olin Brass Plant to folks who are not interested in the club (and who found out they owned it). Waiting to find out about next year
Further, rumors abound around here that Winchester is moving all their ammunition manufacturing out of the Alton area. They sent the 22 rimfire plant to Mississippi (at least in the good ol USA) several years ago.
brdhunt - I was told at the 2008 Grand that Claybuster would NOT make a 16 ga wad - the molds were way too expensive. Does Charles have a second deal or did they find another location or develop some themselves?
thanks for the report! |

Thanks for the report. Nice to know that that the 16ga is creating a larger wake each year. |

Brdhnt,
Thanks. I wonder if the shot itself will be released onto the market for reloaders? Hopefully, if Bismuth is again produced, the shot will be available.

Geez, I wish I had said that. Actually TB, Homer Simpson works for Winchester. Bozo is on Remington's payroll.
It's what I've suspected for a while now. Winchester and Remington have been planning the 16 gauge's wake for decades. What a bunch of maroons.
The 16 will outlive Winchester. What irony. Remington had better wakie wakie before its too late for them too.
Great job BH. We need more folks in the media like you. Please tell your friends to get on board now.
I emailed Federal, Alliant, Rio, Fiocchi, and B&P last year with reasons to come out with a 3/4 or 7/8 ounce load, and urged all of us to. Maybe one of those letters hit pay dirt. I've contacted Claybuster every winter for nearly a decade to bring out a 16 ga wad. Well, finally. I wonder if Charles's efforts has caused them to finally jump in. What a shock. But don't get me wrong. I'm glad they have. Now we will have at least two new domestic wads for loads from 3/4 ounce up to at least one ounce. If Remington keeps the R16 and SP 16 in its line, we will have a whole range of domestic wads available. That is just super.
We are on the way now. Clout. We finally have clout. |

Brdhnt,
Thanks for the update and thank you for holding the 16ga flag high in a 12ga world. Maybe there is some momentum around the 16ga and the small but important market sector that has been ignored and/or forgotten by mainstream gun, ammo and reloading manufacturers. |

I just want to say that I second what Patric said and also thank you for holding the 16 gauge flag high and helping those that appreciate the 16 gauge.
