I was very fortunate to acquire this long sought after D Grade Parker 16 Bore hammer gun.

Two thirds of it is in remarkable condition. Unfortunately I knew it was coming with barrels that are a lost cause ( Shortened, thin etc.) and I really prefer not to go the sleeving route.

I am praying that one of my comrades may have or know where I can find a barrel set that would fit or a parts gun that I could buy and salvage barrels from.

Thanks very much,
Brad

Probably less expensive in the long run and allowing you to keep the lovely figure of the damascus would be to send your barrels to Teague in England and have them lined. Once it's done, you can't tell.

Except that they've been cut to 24". This gun would be so sweet, with 28" tubes on her.

Back in the late sixties and early seventies when I worked for Westley Richards, I resleeved a few Parkers. They were my favorite gun to resleeve the barrels and ribs were much more robust than English doubles and they all seemed to take to resleeving well. I once did a 12ga Parker for a guy in Texas, he wanted it resleeved with 20" barrels.

Is it possible to resleeve and extend the barrels as well by using a two diameter, extended sleeve?

I do not know how Teague resleeve barrels but the old fashioned way we used, ment that you could have resleeved barrels at what ever length you wanted.

If you sleeve these barrels, they won't be Damascus anymore. Crying or Very sad
So what's the point? Confused I'd rather shoot short, original, Damascus barrels. Instead of modern sleeved barrels.

Teague doesn't "sleeve" barrels, they "line" them. Instead of cutting off the barrels to create a monoblock and going on from there, they ream out the bores and install a full length liner. Neat process and would leave the outer appearance the same as it was. It wouldn't allow for lengthening the barrels, however.

Dave I agree with you. I hate the thought of seeing a pristine old gun much less a hammer gun with modern barrels on it.

The first thing I'll do is bring the gun with me to the Southern and hope someone there can measure the wall thickness of the existing barrels and see if they are ok to shoot as is with low pressure loads. -Brad

If that fine old parker was mine I would keep it as it is.
I once had a 16GA Hammergun with 24" barrels and it was fine for close to medium range.
I would only consider sleeving as a last resort, if it was not safe to shoot otherwise! Then I would go with the Teague method to preserve the looks.

Plan A) Determine shoot-ability as is.

Plan B) Ongoing search for Parker 16 Ga. "O" frame Damascus Barrels.
or parts gun with same.

Plan C) Continued annoyance of Dave M for ongoing refusal to sell him
the gun.

Plan D) Sleeve as last last last resort.

Thanks for all the input everyone.

Brad
