My Dad, bless his heart, gave me a 16 ga Parker Bros. It's got a bit of play and I'm wondering if there's anyway to get it tightened up?

How much money you got?

There are several methods. The quickest is a shim repair, by the likes of Mike Orlen. A simple shim is soldered on the lump. From there, the cost and complexity quickly rises. Spray welding and refitting is an option, as is machining a dovetail for a fitted sleeve.

They all work.
Best,
Ted

If you will give us more info on what Model you have, condition, etc we can best suggest what is a realistic direction to go with the gun. Use caution about who it might get sent to. A lot of nice Parkers have been ruined in the wrong hands.
Pictures would be great. We'd love to see your gun.

Is it tight when closed but loose when opened or is it loose all the time?

I don't know the model. It's a little loose when closed, whether shells in or not.

Then the wear is in the hook and/or bolts and you should get it to a pro to evaluate.
