Trigg,
One of the first guns I got to use for hunting was a poly-choked, bolt-action Mossberg 20 gauge borrowed from an older cousin. One advantage of a bolt-action shotgun, for me at least, was that I got in more practice running a bolt-action FAST, something most people never learn. It did help ( at least with my confidence ) when I started deer hunting with a bolt-action rifle. My dad taught me many years ago, butt never leaves the shoulder, eyes never leave the target, bolt run firmly and quickly.

Granted, the bolt is the slowest of the repeaters, but with proper manipulation, and a little luck on the flush, it is quite possible to take a double on pheasants with one. That is also the best you will get with a sxs or o/u, a disadvantage of all three, while I have taken triples with both pumps and semis on prairie chickens, pheasants and quail. Actually, I guess I shouldn't say a double is the best you can do with a bolt, but I've never seen or heard of a triple with one.

Hello Folks :

The advantages of a Bolt Action is that I can shoot anything through the thing and not feel bad about ruining the barrel .

I also agree with Berg , I handle a Bolt Action Rifle real fast like and can shoot them nearly as fast as the other actions ( years of practice ) I would not feel guilty in using the bolt action on ducks , geese , or turkey's shooting anything that is nasty going down the barrel .

The 16ga in a bolt action is a 16ga and that is what I shoot now days !!!!!!!!!

I will have one soon !!!!!!!!!!!

Regards Charles
