The downside of Flatwater is that every time I attend, I end up buying a new gun! If you are considering a purchase, just post something on the afore-mentioned board, and guys will show up with examples for you to shoot.

This time noted writer TMB showed up with an Ithaca Model 37 (I had evinced an interest in pumpguns) and I ended up buying one. In 16g.

It was a great time, and I did end up joining the 16g. Society as a result, as I'm now a multi-16 Gauger. But you will buy more guns as a result.

Happy to be on this board. Flatwater is recommended.

Steve
Welcome to the board.

I am sure you will like that Ithaca 37. It is nice to hear that another one has gone to a good home. i have several and enjoy shooting them all, even the ones that aren't 16 s , did I say that out loud.

Send me a PM w/ the serial number, you don't have to send the whole number. And I can help you find out the year she was built.

Its a shame the notssmbbs.com doesn't seem to be taking new members. It sounds like one I would like to be a part of.

May I ask what would lead you to make that claim? It is a great board on which I participate daily, and have heard nothing about it being closed to new members. Shall I inquire for you?

Mike

Of course you can. Every time I have tried to register I cannot get past the first page, maybe their server doesn't like macs or my web browser.

Hi all

I ended up having to resend the e-mail a couple of times due to a problem on this end. I was wondering why I kept getting it back. Had I payed a little more attention to it I would have noticed this sooner. And not gotten a little frustrated.

Thank you for the help.

This is a photo of the Marlin 90 that I finished just the night before the Flatwater shoot , Ole Ben had been hounding me to do this one up for him with the pistol grip taken off and made into a straight grip.

I took the ole girl apart placed her in the blast cabinate and hit her with a fine sand ( been using glass beads and this is not heavy enough to do a good job with the bluing ) used the Mark Lee's rust blue formula from Brownells and went to town , it all turned out just pretty fair to middlin for an ole gun .

The stock had lots of oil soaked wood in the grip section , this I removed and glass beded her so we will have long life out of this stock yet.

I ground a butt pad and put on her and ended up with a total weight of 6 lbs 8 OZ on the money a bit heavier that I wanted , but with the rush to get her done for the shoot I didnt have time to remove any metal so , So Ole Ben will have to live with the weight .

I must say she sure was an ugly duckling before I started now she is a little less ugly .

This is a couple of things that Ben and I have come up with .

We took these to the Flatwater shoot , the blued gun is a 16ga 26" tube with a straight stock , weight is 6 LBS 15 OZ , I shot this gun for the first time on Sunday of the shoot and was pleasantly supprised at how it performed , you can ask everyone that I shot with just how I could make this gun perform and as well as how everyone else shot it .

Now this is one that was in the car but was never taken out at the shoot so no one got to see this at the shoot , we were having way too much fun laughing so hard I simply forgot to take the thing out and show it off .

This is close up of the engraving , yes it is a 12ga I know but I was some what taken with the receiver color and engraving .

This is both guns laid out side by side for compairson.

Thought I should share this with the folks that didnt get to see this at the shoot .....
