Anyone know of a leather shotshell belt for 16 gauge shells? I have used the Orvis one for 12 ga for years and can't find anything similar for 16.
Thanks! |

I bought the 12g one from Galazon and have used it only for 16 and have had no problems with shells popping out. This is a closed pocket design. I've been very pleased.
It was so tight that I can't imagine trying to put 12g shells in it.

I also use a 12 ga. belt, they make them tight for the 12's and they are just right for the 16's. |

If you do get a 12 ga. belt, (I got mine from Griffin and Howe ... well made,) don't put 12 ga. shells in it ever. |

I got mine from navada gunleather, and I'm very happy with it. On a side note, the guy who makes them must me some kind of chain smoker or the leather dye must have some kind of liquid smoke additive. Mine smelled like a Ciggarette for about 4 months. You can also save a bunch of money by soaking a 20g leather belt in near boiling water for about 10 minutes then putting in 16g plastic shells in the belt, and let it dry for 24 to 48hrs with the shells in the loops. This will stretch the leather enough to accomodate the 16g shell size. If you have an old 20g belt collecting dust, try it! |

Warning - those shell belts can be very dangerous to the finish on your stocks!
Best,

If you have a 20 ga leather belt, get a spray can of boot/leather stretcher (at western wear stores), spray the loops, insert 16ga shells and the loops will stretch to fit. Sometimes 20 ga belts are easier to find. Pearcy Stansbury addresses these belts in his book "Shotgun Marksmanship" and recommends using only the belts that have closed loops, in other words, not like those found on cowboy 6-gun leather. |
