Hey all,

Thinking of taking advantage of a sale on Estate 16 gauge shells and am curious how clean they burn. Seems I remember hearing they left lots of crud in the barrel and gummed up gas ports pretty rapidly. Is this true or do they burn somewhat similar to Feds, Rems, Win, etc as for ..?

They are made by Federal so should burn as cleanly (or as dirty) as the rest of Federals 16 gauge ammunition of the same gauge and shot weight.

I usually/always buy whats on sale.

The estate shells were always dirtier but you just clean your gun a little more. I would choose winchester or remington over estate for the same price. Just my preference. I shoot 100 rounds when I go shooting so it doesn't really matter just.

I suspected that these estates were made by Federal. Can anyone confirm that the hulls are identical? I would like to reload the Estates just as I do my Federal hulls.

Thanks,

david

Yes, Estate Cartridge Co is owned by Federal and they use the same hull for both in 16ga. Only difference is the headstamp and writing on the tube.

Mojo,
Buy em and shot em and buy all the others and shot them and then tell me there's a huge difference! I think not, in fact a 1000 rounds later on any of them and you will probably not see any difference. I've handloaded alot of powders and some seem dirtier than others but if the gun goes BOOM! and birds fall that's all I ask for. Same with the clay targets, when there's dust that's all you can ask for.
