Just loaded up some #6 nice shot. I took a favorite 1 oz load of mine, and lightened it up to 7/8 oz in a Fiocchi 2 3/4" hull with Z16 wad and an overshot card. Used 31.0 grains of longshot.

Pattern was good with both barrels, I had skeet in bottom and IC in top.
I patterned them by shooting a big box at 25 yards. Not as tight as I thought it might be, but that was the case when I patterend #5 nice shot thru my Trojan using 2.5" hulls.

Not going to use a spreader device, these will do fine as they are.
We shall see the performance where it counts, in the field Saturday.

Anyone else using nice shot yet in the field? Wanted to Saturday on some ducks but never had time to load any, took the 12 and used Hevi-steel.

Keep me posted on how it works for you. Send some pictures too if you would. Our season opened last Saturday. I used my new 16 for the first time, the only problem have was being excited and stopping my swing. < Shot behind a couple> The #6 worked great on the woodies.

Funny, I have hunted pheasants for 30+ years, that has never happened to me.

hey hootch. i shot 2 ducks with # 7.5 a ring bill and a hoody.
worked real well. the shots were about 30, 35 yrds. my partner
was shooting a 28 ga berreta with steel # 7s and killed a ringer
at the same range.when i cleaned the birds the one hit with the
steel had more pellets in the body than did the 2 i killed with nice
shot 7.5. go figure on that one. then again maybe i shot a little ahead
of my birds. they were hit in the head and neck area. then it
seemed like all the ducks left minnesota. round here anyway.
good luck and have a safe hunt, bluerock.

Sounds good. I think all the ducks are right here in the Rainwater basins now. Still raining here. All the marshes will be full. AND with my luck, now I am headed to North Dakota. Hopefully ducks will still be here when I get back. Then I will give them a try with the nice shot. (might be out of my 10ga though)
