I just located a M97 Winchester in good, non restored condition at a great price. Only trouble is that it's 12ga. This could be my first non 16ga shotgun. Will you guys let me stay in the forum if it follows me home?
Bob

If it really is a good deal on a nice M97, buy it. You'll be ok here. You have to take the normal dirty looks etc for buying outside "the guage" but you won't be run out of town. Very Happy

If you're really worried about what they will do here, let me know where that 97 is and I'll sacrafice myself for you. Wink

I only owned 2 16's when I joined this group. I was up to six by Christmas in an effort to balance out my portfolio. I'm now at five, but letting my brother in law have one at cost converted a new shooter to the guage and got us a new (or should have by now) member on this board. That personal sacrifice I judged as being good for the group as a whole. As long as we keep the balance of 16's to others right, you shouldn't have any trouble on this board. good luck on hunt. I think you will be OK buying the 12 gauge. I think most of us own several gauges. I know I do and enjoy them all for different reasons. Congratulations on your great find.

I have guns in 410, 28, 20, 16, and 12 gauges. In 16 I own 8 guns (dominates my collection). I am in Kansas tonight for hunting the next 3 days and I brought only 16s!!!!

Buy the model 97!

Decided against the 12ga M97. If it were a 16ga, it would be in the safe now. Will keep looking. Bob
