I have one, it's not for sale, but I LOVE it. Carries great and pokes through the thick grouse woods so much better the the 28" tubes that I used to carry.

I'll keep an eye out and let you know if I come across another.

I have both a 20 and a 12ga in the Upland I really like the 20 but I was wanting a 16ga I don't on a 16ga but I really like them my dad has 2 or 3 and I think they would be the perfect all around gun for upland hunting. Are they built on a true 16 frame or is it on a 12? All the help is appreciated. Thanks

As far as I know, all the 16 gauge Citoris are built on a 16 gauge frame. It's definitely not a 12.

While I also like English stocks and have several older doubles with straight stocks, I have a 26" Citori 16ga with a rounded semi-pistol grip and it has become my favorite shotgun for grouse, woodcock and upland hunting. The 16ga Citoris are hard enough to find and if you can get your hands on one - you might find the semi-pistol grip to be very comfortable. As far as I have been told, all the Citori 16ga guns were built on 16ga frames and I truly think a 16ga Citori with 26" barrels is a wonderful field gun. Good luck with your search!!! Dave

FWIW - I have read in other posts that the 16 is built on a modified 20 frame.

HC, while I responded earlier that the Citori 16 where all built in 16 gauge frames, I think you are correct about the modified 20 gauge frames. My understanding is that the original 16 gauge production Citroi shotguns where all built on 16 gauge frames but that a more recent and very limited run of Citoris were in fact built on modified 20 guage frames. This information came to me from 16guageguy when I asked the very same question several months ago on this forum. Maybe the 16guageguy will respond to this question as thoroughly as he did for me. Trust me here, the Browning 16 Citori has always been built on a modified 20 ga frame. It is the only frame they have ever used. It is very slightly wider by about .050" to accomodate the slightly wider barrel block, that is all. Browning refers to it as the 16 ga. frame because it is unique to this gun. All other diamensions are the same as the 20 frame. It also weighs a tad less too...which is a plus. 16GG.

PS, the difference between 24" and 26" can be felt readily on any skeet field. The 26" will handle those crossing shots a lot better. I really doubt there is that much difference in close cover advantages. I use a 28" model in some of the damnedest cover you would care to crawl around in. It has yet to cost me a bird, and it swings through long crossers like it was on ball bearings, the best of all barrel lengths in my experience. I'll take overall shootability anytime.

What is the normal "street" price for a 16ga Citori Lightning? I actually saw a new one today, $1579, which seemed a bit steep since I see most 12ga Lightnings in the $1350 range.

The same shop had a 12ga Lightning Feather with much nicer wood for $1550, and it was about the same weight....it would be a tough choice between the two at the same price.
