I'm looking at a Marlin 90 O/U in 16gauge. Earlier gun with soldered barrels, double triggers. Do all these guns have the 2.75" chambers, or do some have the short 2 1/2" chambers. Seller can't tell me the answer. I have a drilling with 2 1/2" chambers and would prefer to avoid this in another gun.

Thanks,
Mike Yoh

Mike, All should be 2 3/4in. Made from 1937-1963.
If you're having trouble feeding that drilling let me know. Might be able to take it off your hands. Wink

I recently purchased a 16 bore M90. I is a later gun and had 29/16" chambers. I previously had another in 20-ga. and it had short chambers as well. Mine is now at LaBarge-Harkness having the chambers lengthened. Just thought I'd toss my experience into the mix.

Any Marlin 90 with short chambers would definitely be a REAL early gun. Per the 1940 Shooters Bible copy from Marlin, all the 90's were chambered for 2 3/4" shells.

Saw one today at a gun show, marketed as a JC Higgins. Had a pull-down forend latch. Price wasn't bad, and it was a 16--but the forend rattled and it had external pits on the barrels. Decided to pass.

Larry,

For curiosity, what was the price of the 90 at the gun show. I assume it was a 16 gauge.
