I;'ve lurked around here for a while but figured I'd post now that it's official. Well I don't actually have it in my hands yet but I won a Mossberg 500 in 16ga on gunbroker. Not an english best but I think I got a good deal and I can step into the wonderful world of the 16! My grandfather always hunted with one so it brings back fond memories as well.

Congrats! My dad always shot a 16 too, and that's when I learned to love 'em; shot my first ever shell out of his and never looked back. Enjoy! Very Happy

That's cool Fin. My grandpop's 16 (870 Wingmaster) was the first shotgun I shot, I still have the ole purple empty. I shot my first pheasant with it as well.

Yup! Shot my first coffee can and my first rooster with my dad's Sweet 16! Still have it, still shoot it.

I took my first squirrel with a shot from a 16 ga. Now I don't even look at those little tree rats. Very Happy

CitoriFeather16, nice handle. I was using mine today on a pheasant hunt.

It's not the cost but how much much you will use what counts the most Wink

Glad to see another PA boy join the 16 bore ranks.I just picked up my fourth one last week ,a gently used model 12. I don't know which end of the state you're from ,but in the NW area there are still abunch of 16 shooters. You'll find that when you're in the field, other 16ga. guys will spot you from a couple hundred yards away and go out of their way to make your aquaintance.Always thought that was kind of cool.Enough of my bs ,enjoy you're 16, see ya in the field some day. fullchoke16

Nice to see so many 16ga guys. I don't get on here much. I remember when I was a little boy my dad had all those sxs in the corner of the kitchen. I asked where he got them and he said he brought them back for the war. ( WWII ). I remember when he would go hunting he always took this same gun everytime. I asked him why. He said it was a 16 ga and was a sporting mans gun. Well that was the first experience with a 16. It was not long till he was letting me take a few shot at coffee cans he would throw in the air. To make a long story shot I have owned and shot all the gauges but always hunt mainly with the sixteen. If not the 16 then the 28
Wolfchief will testify to that.
Still redoing the sxs I picked up at a show last Oct. of 2005. Will probably reblue the reciever within the next month. Been a long winter.
Good shooting. Old 16 Bill
