Winchester,L.C.Smith,Parker and Lefever have collector web sites, does anybody know if there is one for the Finest Gun in the World? OR if one may be in the works? Question

Fred,
I've seen some postings to this effect over the last year on the DoubleGun website. But I don't believe anything ever came of it. To my knowledge there is none. Sad

Fred, Dave, and anybody else,

One of my goals for the year is to find a Sterlingworth. First, I need to educate myself. Where would you recommend I start: the McIntosh book, AH Fox, the Finest Gun in the World?

Anything else? Thanks.

662,

The Mac book is great. There also was a two-part series in DGJ a while back specifically on Sterlingworths that was really excellent; everything you ever wanted to know about SW's. If you're interested I can look up the issues for you.

Good luck in your search!

Fin

Fin,

I would much appreciate the articles from DGJ. Thanks for the offer.

I would also appreciate the info on DJG issues.

662,
The McIntosh book is definitely the final word, but be advised, at least half the book is devoted to biographical material on Fox the man. (Including ad nauseum accounts of his trap shooting exploits). I found it interesting that they were shooting trap on the roof of Madison Square Garden as late as 1903!
There may be a book out there that's more focused on just the guns. But if there is, I haven't found it.

Pete

The Double Gun Journal issues are Fall and Winter 2004.The article is titled Th e Evolution of the Sterlingworth and it probably has more info than the book,on sterlingworths.I'd still recomend the Macintosh book as an overview of the times and development of the Fox gun.
