I second the proposal, let's call for a vote on the floor.

And I like the last exchange best.

[quote="Terry Imai"]I tried to hold off on "piling on" but when 16GG makes such broad and negative statements about a company or individual without knowing the "facts", then "it's open mouth, insert foot" time. I took the time and asked BP about this load and they said that the "19.5 grains" of Titewad was correct.

Well, it looks like our resident samurai is at it again. Since we are now reviewing quotes, lets review this one. It's a peach. Rolling Eyes It's also the one that has gotten the latest of "Terrible Terry's" rantathons started. ...and he thinks I'm the one who's got his obi in a bunch. Yeah, right. Laughing

Go for it TT. You now have DC in your corner. Would you kindly keep him there distracted and amused for us. It might help keep him out of trouble. We would appreciate it immensely. Thanks.

I have to be honest. My sometimes preverse sense of humor just gets away from me. This is one of those times. It's sick, but it is funny as hell too IMO. Sorry about that folks. It's just another of my weak spots Very Happy

GG,

Just so you understand. My last post was for amusement only.

You need to get a handle on your paranoid thoughts.

If you notice, when you are correct, I am not afraid to agree with you, GG!

Of course I am not one to walk away from a good argument either. Very Happy

Listen buster...,.just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean there's nobody hiding in my bedroom closet with a butcher knife.

You didn't read the last few lines of my post did you DC. You really need to pay attention better. Laughing

I did GG and I couldn't tell what you were referring to. So I just wanted to be sure that you realizes that I wasn't ganging up on you with anyone.

If I take issue with one of your posts, I will take it up with you directly, as I always do.

A few who read the ORIGINAL post reminded me that the loads I sent to Tom for testing were not true to the recipe. I had loaded it into other hulls. Well with the help of spr310 supplying the correct Fiocchi hull I had Tom retest the load and it came back even hotter and should not be used.

The load is in the BPI "The Sixteen Gauge Manual" 5th edit on page #4 in the back load/recipe section. #M1605127 16ga 2 1/2" Fiocchi hull & 616 primer, 19.5 Titewad, BPI SG16 wad, 7/8oz, Roll Crimp. Listed at 1410 fps & 11,200psi

Toms testing results avg. with a 5 shell batch; 1439fps 20740psi

So, even though Tom's experience and advise told me that substituting the other very simillar hulls wouldn't have changed the data that dramatically, almost doubling the listed psi data, I had the load retested with the listed components. You can decide for yourself.

And for grins I had another load tested. Rem RGL black hull cut back to 2.4", win209, 16.5 Green Dot, Rem SP16, 7/8 #8, OSC, Rolled. 5 shell avg 1252fps & 11900psi. My search for a 1350+/-fps trap load continues.

Thanks again to spr310 for the assistance in resolving the BPI Fiocchi hull/load delema. Mike

Wow. 20k psi ina 7/8 oz. load? How is that even possible? I use the bpi manual once in a while, and now I'm not so sure I should trust any of it. I think I'll stick to lpg group data from now on.

This thread re-enforces my aversion to pressures that go beyond 10000 psi and I much prefer the published lower pressures. MY favorite hunting and target loads have pressures ranging from 5780- 7440 psi., although one of my favorite 1 1/8 oz. recipe moves out at 1328 fps and has a published psi of 9600 The other loads are sub 1200 fps to 1238 fps velocities. All are shot from modern 16 gauge shotguns.

I think it should be noted that the powder in that load was titewad. Titewad is rated as a very fast powder, even faster then clays. 19.5 grains is even more then listed in some 12 gauge loads. Myself I have put my BPI manual at the bottom of the stack. I will stick with my own spreadsheet and the loads listed on the powder companies sites.
