The Rem Model 31L came with an aluminum receiver, according to remington.com. Anybody have any experience with this gun?

I read on the Rem Society of America site that the bolt on a 31 latches to the receiver, not the barrel. So is there a fatigue problem with the aluminum with normal use, or would that only be an issue if you were putting thousands of rounds through it every year?

Would appreciate any insights.

I had one, got rid of it, and have regretted it since. I had the same concern as you about the Aluminum frame cracking. Although Aluminum does not have an infinite fatigue life like steel does, I don't believe the forces involved here warrant you worrying about the bolt flying through the reciever and into your face. Use it an enjoy it. It is one of the lightest 16's ever made, a joy to carry. Should be an EXCELLENT upland gun or just grouse in rough country.
