I think someone was looking for 2 and 1/2" 5's. WilliamLarkinMoore in Scottsdale has 3 boxes of 5s and lots of 7/8 oz 8s. They are made locally and are $8-10/box.

That was me, Doc. 2.5in 7/8oz #8's. If they were $4/bx I would be all over them. Using new primed 2.5in Cheddite hulls, it costs me $4.50/bx to load. The second time around it's $2.50/bx. Bob

Be careful buying 2 or 2 1/2" shells if you're looking for specific shot sizes. Most of the factory loads you find will be British, and their shot sizes are not the same as ours. For example, their 5's are our 6's; their 7 1/2's are our 8's--or close enough for govt work, as they say.

Larry,
Our local clays range stocks both 8.5's and 9's. Still at $18/25lbs Smile This is not a club, but a commercial enterprise, by the way. I had never heard of 8.5's until I saw them at the pro shop. Is this something new?

No, 8 1/2's have been around for quite some time. As a matter of fact, that's what I shoot at targets (mostly low gun skeet) most of the time, 7/8 oz reloads. If I'm shooting Sporting Clays with a 16, I'll usually have some 1 oz 8's or 7 1/2's in case of some longer targets.
