Does anyone use Longshot and if so what is your opinion?

It is really nice for moderate to heavy payloads, that you want to move along fast. I don't have a comment on trying to use it for light loads.

Great for hunting loads. The higher velocity makes it a little too much recoil for skeet. IMHO. I do like that I can use it in the other gauges also.

In low pressure loads it's dirty, I also think it loud. It's a great powder for heavier payloads at normal to high velosity though.

I use it almost exclusively for hunting loads. There are a few 10ga/12ga loads where I use some others, but out of the 16ga, and the 24ga, I am using longshot. Higher velocity without high pressures.

I have heard many times that it is loud. I guess I have never noticed.
Maybe just deaf already?

I have no issues with it, love it.

One of the best for hunting loads. I use it in both 16 and 12 gauge. It is loud. I have a neighbor over 1/4 mile away that complains I get one of his dogs upset when I'm out patterning some loads. So I wait until dusk every night and load a couple of real heavy loads in the 12 gauge. It's loud and puts up a nice fire show.

As stated by others, it makes some great hunting loads. I'm running some 1oz. loads in my 16sxs at 1400fps and very reasonable pressures.

They pattern well for me and hit hard. Little stiff on recoil for 100 rounds of claybirds, but great in the field!

Thanks to all. I recently bought a pound of Longshot with the intention of using it for 28 gauge field loads and then wondered about 16 gauge possibilities.

I only use longshot (loudshot) for my reloading.

My only gripe is that it's kind of dirty...and seems to be a little loud.

I loaded up some short shells with it because my normal light load with Herco wouldn't cycle my A-5's all the time.

It's noisy, and my squad mates were taking bets that my brains would be leaking out my ears by the end of the round. Unpleasant recoil.

I've since dropped using it.
