Has anyone tested a load using the following components?:

2 3/4" Cheddite Hulls (Green)
Cheddite 209 Primer
DR16 Wad
Greendot Powder
#8 shot

I have been loading Load #263 from the reloaders spreadsheet. It uses the SG16 wad and requires a filler to achieve a nice crimp. I started using the DR16 wad in place of the SG16,keeping all of the other components the same. I get a perfect crimp without the hassle of the filler.

I wonder whether changing the wad changes the ballistics considerably?

I will send these into Tom for testing, but wanted to see if anyone has already done this first.

I'm open to any tested low pressure loads using these components as I have a large stock of them.

Any imput is appreciated!

Best,
Dan

Hi, I've tested 3 loads so far with greendot and the DR16, with the results posted here.

And here.

I was using the blue hull, not the green. The blue hull is ever so smaller internally than the green (almost insignificant), so your pressures in the green may be a little lower, but not much lower if any at all.

The green hull does give a better crimp than the blue.

You can use these for comparison for whatever your trying to do.
