I have a 16 GA drilling my father brought back from WWII It has outside hammers and the breech release is under the trigger guard. The Lever on top of the receiver selects the rifle barrel or the right Shotgun Barrel.
The only identifying marks other than the proofmarks are two names inlaid with silver into the barrels on top of the gun.
1. ZEHINIK
2. A. HIRTZEL
Any Ideas as to where I can look to identify the maker of this weapon.
The barrels are not Damascus they are marked Stahl Lauf.
This gun has detailed engraving on it. A stag and boar on one side and two pheasants rising as they are pointed by a bird dog on the other side.
The gun also has a flip up rifle sight on top of the barrel center rib.
I am not sure of the rifle caliber.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Fredo |

Fredo -
You may want to post this question at the www.gunshop.com BBS also. There are some folks over there that know quite a bit about drillings.

the only sure way is to make a chamber cast and take detailed measurements to compare in cartridges of the world! be advised, that a lot of these have been rechambered to try and use ammo that was available on this side of the big pond! |
