Have A5 (12ga, mea culpa, mea culpa), for straight buckshot use, what would be better, using a standard field barrel or either a slug barrel or 22" cutoff and have a choke tube put in, for dedicated use?

Still be getting a slug barrel for slug use.

Thanks.

Not sure what size you plan to use--OR what choke the field bbl has--The best way is to put them on paper.FWIW my best results have been with cyl. choke and a 20 in. bbl---

I once had a gunsmith build a dedicated buckshot barrell. He started with a remington 870 barrell and cut it to 23". Threaded it for true choks and screwed in a imp. modified true choke. Best paterning 00 buckshot barrell I've ever used. Very Happy

Or look for a 21" or 22" A5 factory barrel and then you are set to go. I have one for one of my A5 Light-12 Stalkers. Or buy an A5 slug barrel to serve both purposes (slug and buckshot).
