Howdy the forum,

I know that this is not a 16ga question, but I do own two 16's, and I know that several of you are very knowledgeable about Ithaca.

A dear friend has asked me to investigate the value of her dad's old Ithaca 20ga. Any and all comments and information would be welcome.

Ithaca DBSG SXS 20ga
Description:
- Ithaca Gun Co, Ithaca, NY on each side of receiver
- Doggie engraved on each side of receiver
- 28” barrels, solid rib, crosshatched
- “Smokeless Powder Steel” engraved on top of right barrel
- Pistol grip butt stock, checkered, dark wood, straight grained
- Splinter fore arm, checkered, dark wood
- Double triggers
- SN 346454
Condition (sorry, no pictures yet)
- Barrels bright inside, good blueing outside, one small rust spot, no pitting
- Two small dents on right barrel, 6” from muzzle
- Receiver good blueing top and sides, discoloration in blueing on bottom
- Receiver tight lockup, latching lever slightly left of center
- Must press latch lever to right to close action
- Screw slots fine, no marring
- Butt stock wood has dings and scratches, finish marred from rubber slip on recoil pad
Grading (my estimate)
- PPG barrels: 90%
- PPG receiver: 80%
- PPG stocks: 80%
- NRA Modern: Good
Comments: First impression was NRA VG. Upon closer inspection, several items seem to reduce the NRA grade from VG to G: Butt stock condition, dings in barrels, discoloration on receiver, latch to left of center, must hold latch to close action. I have not fired it, but assume that it works.

I would appreciate information on:
- Date of manufacture: 1921 ?
- Model name: Flues ?
- Value to ask for sale:

Thanks for your help,

HHH

Hipshot,
Welcome.
I'm afraid the news is not so good regarding the value of Flues model Ithaca's. They were just not one of Ithaca's better designs and the result is mediocre interest only in the higher grade versions in exceptional condition and the one you described is neither.
Of course being a small bore 20ga. does help but I doubt it would bring much more than $500.00 and that's likely being generous.

Best of luck and let me know when they find dear ol' dads stash of Parkers
tucked way in the back of the linen closet.

Regards,
Brad
