Yes, the Russians have made some pretty nice guns. Unfortunately, most of the ones we see in this country are pretty crude and basic. The gun pictured above, however, must be at least 15 years old, because it says "USSR" on it, and the USSR ceased to exist about that long ago.

This one must have been a "Commisar" special. If the gun maker screwed up, it was the gulag for him. Laughing Actually, back in the 1970's I owned a very nice Baikel SxS 20 ga. for while. It was certainly a full cut above the normal Russian workmenship. It proved to me that its not so much where something is made as much as how well its made.

I could not shoot it well through no real fault of the gun, so I sold it. This was well before I came to my senses, got into 16 ga. guns, and learned to shoot a bit better. Wink

I'd like to know how you got the picture on the site. I haven't figured that out yet. Nice looking gun and my wife likes the bed covering.

There was an article in, I believe Gun Digest, a few years ago detailing how a French gunsmith took basic Baikals and redid them into NICER guns. The basic Baikal can be the foundation for a very nice shotgun as shown here.
