I have become a member:
Now my confession.
It all started when my youngest son inherited a Model 12 16ga, year 1923. I offered to buy him something else, but he insisted that he wanted to shoot the gun he inherited.
So after spending money to have the gun rebored to 2 3/4" and reblued, I then started to reload for it. After all the money that I spent, and out of kindness my son let me take it to New Mexico for a quail hunt.
While on the quail hunt my cousin with his O/U 12ga laughed at me and told me to get a modern gun that chambered a real gauge. But for some reason that ol Model 12 16ga brought down more birds than his 12ga.
I really tried not to taste the forbidden fruit of the 16ga. I looked at 12ga SxS's and pumps, telling myself that ammo was readily available for these guns. Logic told me that if I wanted to fit into society I should shoot a 12 or 20ga.
Then it happened; yesterday a fellow gun club member pushed into my hands a Model 12 16ga year 1952. I told him no, and that I wanted no part of it.
It was to late, that ol Model 12 followed me home.
Please I am showing signs of a 16ga addiction and I need help.

ioannes welcome to the site.
Now, just wait till you hold a 0 frame, 16 gauge Parker, or one of those hard to find Sterlingworths in your hand. Isn't anything sweeter than a fine old SxS in 16 gauge. Better clean out the safe and make some room, your hooked! |

You made a smart choice. I recently added a like new 1947 model 12 16 ga. to my collection of sxs 16 ga.'s I now know the mystic of the model 12 on a small frame.

Welcome also but a word of warning re: Dave M and Brad6260. Please see the 'Parker Putz Society' thread-their Siren song will lead you seriously astray (and you can forget about paying for your children's college tuition and/or weddings) Won't do much for domestic tranquility either.
As for the Merkel Maniacs-it has something to do with a post-Octoberfest hangover, a James Bond movie, and a 'golden BB' 50 yd head shot on a sickly pheasant that was dying anyway. Now they think there is some secret laser beam in the forearm somewhere.
Stay in the 'Worshipful Society of Winchester M-12s' and whatever you do, DON'T EVEN TOUCH A STERLINGWORTH |

Hey Drew, I just happen to come across a nice Winchester 101, skeet gun, 12 gauge. So I bought it cause I always wanted one. But then my Parker to other gun ratio was off balance. I hunted for another 16 gauge Parker, but couldn't find one. So, I added a really nice GH, 12 gauge, with 30" Damascus barrels.
I do have a Browning BT99, single barrel trap gun I'm looking to unload. |

My wife is still happy, cause she knows nothing about the guns I buy.
Ans she doesn't know the combination to the safe. |

Dave, you one smart guy. kathi knows the combo, and worse , me being the smart guy that I am, conned her into cleaning all the guns. That is what started the Merkel thing. "You'v got to many guns, need to get rid of some" ok, so I loaded up some clunkers off to the local gun shop and home came the merkel" Thays not what I ment, and you know it, jacka**" , oh well |

I wish to thank you all for the support for my new " 16ga problem.
By the way, I looked into my gun safe and I noticed I had one empty slot.
Maybe a 16 sxs would fit?

I would recommend a nice Merkel or if you want an older classic, a nice Sterlingworth. |
