I think that Baikal makes an IZH18 16 gauge single shot.
I just searched Gun Broker and there are LOTS of 16 gauge single shots for sale today

Not a good one, if there are any.
Bit the bullet and fine a Winchester Model 37 or a Savage Model 220 in 16 gauge, if you want a good one. |

Depends on the vintage of the 220, Don. Some diecast parts crept in at the end.
If you can find a 16 gauge Italian "Companion" you will have a truly delightful little hammerless 16 gauge underlever, that even folds. Most have a vent rib, auto safety (easily dismantled, if you happen to suffer dsylexia) and typical good quality Italian fitting, with modern proof and stock dimensions. They turn up on Gunbroker, here and there.
The 37 is a joke, compared to one of these.
Best,

I like the beretta folding single shot. I have one in .410 and wanted to buy Nick's but it did not make it in the truck on the last trip...

That specific question has a rather narrow answer, pointing in the direction of no. If you broaden it slightly you have more options, albeit not brand new options... |

There is an outfit in California, "Accardi Importer" that has access to several Italian makers that produce 16 gauge single shots, including that nifty folding job. They ARE still made. But, good luck getting the guy off his keyster to do anything for you. Used might be a better option, in this case.

One word of caution, not all Italian mad folding shotguns are of the same quality. My first one and now my only one is a Beretta .410, picked up 2 after that and was not satisfied with them. One made in Breda had a trigger pull that my scale wouldn't even register, almost had to use 2 fingers. Both went down the road in a hurry. |

Just picked up this 16 folder Companion. Imported by Eagle Arms. I have a Beretta made 1950 folder. This is a clone also made in Italy. My fish scale says 8 lb pull. But you know how fish scales are; they enhance the fisherman's story.
It weighs 5 lb 9 oz; 17 oz more than the Beretta which has a shorter stock and smaller forearm. |

I have an Eagle Arms imported 12 gauge Companion folder. The trigger pull is excellent, as is the quality. It was my first gun (still have the box it came in) but I pretty much only use it as a snow shoe grouse gun. With the 30" barrel, it makes a pretty good balance beam, and I will never need more than one shot for grouse when I'm on snowshoes. A hammerless single is a good thing.

Ted, do you know what year your's is?
I notice, in my 1963 Digest, it says Beretta 'Companion' imported by Galef. It looks like my Beretta with the 'arrowhead' stock cheek. My Beretta, made in 1950 with blue receiver, has Brevetto on the side; not Companion and Beretta's proof marks.
This one, I pictured, doesn't have any Beretta marks on it, but has 'Companion'.
In the 1969 Digest it has the both the Beretta AND the 'Companion' with satin chrome receiver by Galef.
In the 1971 Digest, it lists the Beretta as the FS-1, then has a listing for the Companion by Galef. The Beretta is $10 more.
By 1977, the Beretta isn't listed but the Galef Companion is.
In 1984, Kassnar is importing a folder from Italy called the Omega.
After 1988 don't see either one.
My proof marks on the Eagle arms isn't very clear but it looks like XX, which would be 1964. Never did see Eagle with the folder, but I don't have all the books. Maybe they just imported a couple of years.
Anyway, I'll bet Beretta made both. It wouldn't be the first time Beretta made a gun for someone without thier marks; for instance, the Charles Daly Empire SXS, made fron 1968-71. |
