Hey Fellow Sixteeners...

I'm trying to get a couple shooting pals to go up to the flatwater shoot in two weeks. Sounds like a ton o' fun! Any other 16 ga nuts going? I'd hate to be the really oddball shooter all alone with a 16 in hand! Embarassed

For more info, check out the Shooting Sportsman bulletin board Flatwater discussion...all proceeds go to a charity that introduces young people to the shooting sports.

Cheers!

No fear, there will be all kinds of 16's although we'll be out-snobbed by smaller gauges, as always. Make you want to buy a 28 or even go 24....

At least one Spanish sidelock, M21's, M12's, M31's, Citori's, but I don't recall any Auto-5. No matter, there will be nice pieces to hand around.

Oh well...

I have a couple nice brownings and I have a 20 ga sxs that is pretty nice. But since I buy most guns to take to the field and bang up but good, I guess I'll just bring a 12 ga or 16 ga "banger" or two and keep a low profile. I'm not out to impress anybody with how much I can pay for a gun, I just want to have some fun at a friendly shoot!

Look forward to seeing you there! Just look for the fellow with the southern accent and the "beaten up" guns!

Cheers!

Yes, there will be numerous 16's at Flatwater. The Iowegian contingent will be bringing some, probably including a pump or two, but I may be shooting--ready for the shock?--12's this year. Have a couple of Brit 12's that are pretty much like American 16's in terms of weight, shot charge, etc.

Check it out, Larry, a "low-profile" Lawyer. Must be the southern part of it that allows such things! Very Happy OSL, if you can corner Larry, ask him his views on how many guns it takes to find the one that you like.....then let us know what he says. I'll bring a couple M12's and a M31, plus a Citori to shoot at the 5-stand. Gotta use up some more factory rounds to make empties for reloading. If you've got a 16ga gun I'd appreciate the help using some of these up if you don't mind shooting 6's. Look for the short guy in the Wrigley's chewing-gum colored Dakota with a green shooting vest and red shooting bag.

Larry, why shoot an American 16 equivalent when the true item is available to you?

The FLATWATER is a real fun shoot. I encourage anyone that can, to be there next weekend.

No one keeps score, because we're all there to have a good time. Last year the guns ranged from Remington pumps, to American SxS's, and a few high grade English Purdeys and Woodwards. Everything from 12's to .410's.

The comradeship is excellent, as are the steaks, wine, and single malt scotch variety. A great group of guys, and a very pleasant weekend. If you want to earn extra respect, bring a nice wine bottle or another single malt for Saturday night, after dinner.

For you guys going to Flatwater...

Sorry, but I won't be up after all. A family medical issue requiring a surgery will keep me home for the next several days.

I was really looking forward to some shooting fun at Flatwater, but looks like it will have to happen at the next shoot. Everyone enjoy, and have an extra scotch at the bar for me!
