I need to know what kind of Dogs you folks use and what kind of Upland Birds you mainly hunt with those Dogs ??????????
I need a poll count on each of the Dogs and tell me what kind of Birds.
I will start with my Setters and mainly hunt Quail .
I have an important reason for this information far beyond just being curious , so please help me out with the info.
I need the information in the near future .

I hunt with 2 gsp's . One is 9 , one is 6 . We hunt mostly New England grouse and woodcock . Sometimes state released pheasant and quail . Sometimes preserve pheasant and chuckars . Someday hope to hunt the midwest open fields for wild birds . I'm getting tired of hitting sapling branches swinging through the bird !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

At the present time I have a 7 year old GSP but will be adding a pup next spring.
If I lived closer to pheasant country they would surely be my #1 game bird. When AZ has any quail that is what I hunt the most but last year Dixie and I saw more pheasants in Kansas than quail in AZ.
Charles, asking for help deciding on what dog and birds to engrave on the new model 90

Mr. Charles,
I cut my teeth on quail over Elhews, setters, and brittanies. I've always had labs for waterfowl, and had some brittanies in the past for quail. My lab has gotten turned on to field work and quail here lately, so I'd like to give him a shot....but my favorite upland dogs are brits. I like shorthairs, too...but have limited time behind them and have never owned one. |

I am currently dog less due to habitat change in my part of Texas. When I had a hunting dog, she was a liver spotted pointer used for quail. |

Regarding the red setters, we had a breeder here in Alabama that I looked at some time back. The reds were Irish setters with english crossed back into them to get back some of the 'birdy' bred out over the years....or at least that was the line I was fed. I'd love to see truly hunting Irish setters around again, but I only saw one point behind one as a kid. |
