Conn Shotgun has a nice 16 ga Sterlingworth in original box for sale. $3795 for this Utica gun. Looks like a nice gun and the box makes for a nice collectors piece.

I have no connection other than I recently purchased a 16 ga from Conn Shotgun. Thought someone here might like to take a look.
I'm looking at another Merkel or I would consider this gun. Smile

Thirty-eight hundred bucks for a Sterlingworth!? That's just wrong! And what does a box have to do with hunting? Shocked

I did go look at it, however; sweet.

I would think you could get it a BIT cheaper. The box just drives the price up for those that want everything orig. Confused
I'm looking for another Merkel right now or I might consider an offer on that SW. Would make a nice twin to the one I just got. Very Happy

Yeah, I know; I was just being a smart a$$. But to me, Fox guns were meant to be hunted, not collected, especially Sterlingworths, ergo the box isn't worth squat. But as Dennis Miller (who USED to be funny) always said,"That's just my opinion; I could be wrong." Wink

I should be happy; I was thinking maybe I paid more for my SW than I should have, but at those prices, I got a he!! of a deal! Very Happy

That one is $1300 more than I paid for mine that was every bit of 95%. You're right too, to me the box doesn't mean a thing. I would have that baby in the field as soon as I could. Very Happy

I used to love Dennis Miller. Watched his show on HBO every Sat night.

What is a reasonable price for this Sterlingworth, not giving a damn about the box?

TJC.....Merkels are truly great, don't let them sway you! Wink

Birdswatter,
They can't pull me completely over the line. I love my Merkel too much for that to happen. But diversity is a nice thing.

I was wondering also what would be a reasonable price on that gun. Unfortunately you can't overlook the box because there are those out there that would give it weight. Kinda like the S&W guys that are paying big prices for the boxes alone and more if they locate a gun w/the orig box.

That aside, in the condition the gun seems to be in I would guess some where around $3k??? I don't know, what do you all think? How much would you pay for an almost new in box SW.
We know they last forever so this gun is good for probably another 90-100 yrs.

How much?
