I don't know, but I'm starting to wonder how robins would taste on a spit. Very Happy Very Happy

My dogs haven't hunted in 2 weeks and they are already going crazy. Can't wait until Sept when the preserves at least open up again. Very Happy

Since you asked--------------Yes, robins DO taste very much like Woodcock. For years I have shared a springtime red-breasted gumbo with a local fellow who has little regard for the fact that robins are now 'protected'.

No foolin'!

As to what one should do about off season hunting withdrawal---ever try starlings? Once again now, I'm as serious as a heart attack---------
Starlings are imported, invasive, and plentiful--- UNprotected AND pretty good on the table--better that you would believe. If you eat dove, pigeon OR woodcock you probably will like a mess of starlings. Nero Wolfe had them delivered every year.
Dove recipes are just fine.

oK gg, keeping my gizzard tuned up, like I said---------------- Smile

Hey guys,
Come on down to sunny Florida. Preserve season is open until April 20th. I'm going to a very nice one on the 15th. It's very reasonably priced as long as you have your own dogs and don't have to have your hand held. My pointing Lab, Prince Charles of Rocky Creek (Charley to those who know and love him) seems to be somewhat used to the heat, but short runs of 10 to 15 minutes w/ a break and water between the runs is the norm. We usually always take 2 or more dogs and rotate them.
Anyway, Come on down!
