Howdy everyone! SgtSam here. Very Happy

I'm a guy whose first shotgun was a plain Jane Stevens SxS 16. Got it for my 12th birthday. That was about three years after I got my first .22 rifle for my 9th Christmas. I was a little stupid some many years ago and sold the .22 and the 16. I was a young man in the military and moving around with those two guns, while I had to live in the barracks, was a royal pain in the rear. So, I sold 'em. Wish I hadn't. Sad

Well, I've hunted and shot clays for many years using mostly 12s and a few 20s for seasoning. Last Summer I purchased a Browning 16 BPS and had to ask myself, where has my head been all of these years. Embarassed I'm in love with the 16 again. Since then, I purchased a LEE Loadall to reload for the 16, and now have a MEC on the way. I also have a Browning 16 Citori on the way. I'm not ready to sell my 12s yet, sold all of my 20s some time ago. My son still has a 20, though. But I'll have to see how much I use the 12s after the Citori arrives. Between the Citori and the BPS, I suspect I'll be using them most of the time.

I don't hunt anymore. I'm 66, bad feet, bad back, and suspect knees. Besides, I don't have any friends that hunt and I don't like going out alone. So, all of my shotgun shooting is clays of some sort. I have a number of friends who shoot that. They all think I'm nuts for going back to an "obsolete guage". I just smile and go about my efforts.

I'm looking forward to some good interface here and to learning a lot. Looks like a nice forum.

Thanks for opportunity to join you.

SgtSam

Welcome SgtSam, should say welcome back to the wonderful world of the 16 ga. Know what you mean about these golden years, but there still is grouse hunting not far from you that is doable for guys like us.

Welcome to GunTalk and welcome back to the world of the 16 gauge - I also reintroduced myself to 16's about a year and half ago with the purchase of a 16 gauge BPS - nice shotgun. Old Hunter
PS I have learned quite a bit from the members here, mostly very nice folks.

I salute you SGTSAM! God must have lead you straight when you took up the 16 and found this forum. I'm looking forward to hearing about your exploits!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations of rediscovering the joys of shooting a 16 ga. They definitely can be addictive.

After shooting and hunting with 12's and 20's for over 50 years, I got my first 16 ga. Marlin Model 90 about 3-1/2 years ago, and I discovered this great Forum a few months later. I now have seven 16 ga. guns of which 5 are different versions of Marlin Model 90's. I also acquired a Utica-Fox Sterlingworth, and I got my dad's Springfield-Stevens No. 215 sxs hammer gun as a gift from the friend dad sold it to over 60 years ago.

Hearing that, some folks would hold their head in shame. Not me, I just hold my head up a little higher knowing I'm the enlightened one in the crowd.

Welcome to the forum and for paying to keep this place advert free. I salute you.
