Welcome to the Model 90 owers' "Club." There a number Model 90 fans who post here. Let us know how it shoots.

1957 was the last year Marlin made the Model 90DT.

ST, with the forearm latch and separated barrels.

Neded to detail it and get some pic. Then figure out of to load to site.

Had the family M90 with DT and pull-off forearm, (passed down from Mom Uncle), but tried to buy peace and respect from immediate relative.
THAT was a bad deal.

Now I have mine OWN and its in FAR BETTER condition.

My 16 ga. ST also has a "P" serial number. The latch forearm was introduced in 1951. The ST was introduced in 1954. Separated barrels became standard in 1949.

My 16 ga DT has a "D" serial number (1947) with pull off forearm and the web between the barrels. However, I have a 12 ga. Model 90 with "D" serial number (1947) that has separated barrels, so there must have been a transition period when Marlin was assembling guns with both barrel configurations.

What length barrels does your gun have? 28" were typically choked Mod/Full while 26" were typically choked IC/Mod.

for Top barrel 0.633" and Bottom: 0.640

According to my Ithaca choke chart that a "Full" and "IM".

Unusual set-up as normally the top barrel should be open and the bottom is tight???

Comments?

For Model 90's, the bottom barrel (front trigger) is the more open barrel. If you have 28" barrels then IM and Full may be correct because there are variations from one Model 90 to the next.

Because of the variations from gun to gun, it is better to measure the amount of constriction with a bore gauge to determine the choke. Of course, the best way is to pattern the gun. For example,

My16 ga. DT with 26" barrels, bottom: .002 (between cylinder and skeet) and top: .019 ( Imp. Mod).

My 16 ga ST with 26" barrels, bottom: .010 (Skeet II) top: .022 (Slightly tighter than IM)

My 16 ga. with 28" barrels, bottom: .023 (between Imp. Mod and full) top: .025 (full)

My 12 ga DT with 28" barrels, bottom: .013 ( Skeet II ) top: .024 (Imp. Mod)

My 12 ga with 26" barrels, bottom: .012 (skeet II) top: .025 (Imp. Mod)

I think you will find most O/U's fire the bottom barrel first (or front trigger) as it puts the tighter (top) barrel more in line with your eye for the longer shots. At least that is one theory! Just picked up a Model 90 myself. 16ga, 1950. Looking forward to shooting it!

Loaded two empty cases with live primers and stepped inot garage ( Wife was shopping) and was surprised the flame from the Win 209 coming out of the 26" barrels.

Imprints on was was DISTINCTIVE!
