Southwest Shooter's Supply (www.swshotguns.com 602-943-8595) has a 16g. Nitro Special listed at $450. Pics are not available and I have not seen the gun but need an excuse to go drool on the inventory if I could check it out for anybody? |

Good price if it's in decent shape. The Nitros are about my favorite American "beater" sxs. Sometimes, however, the stocks do have too much drop. |

Drew and Larry:
Had one of these in 12 ga and shot doubles trap with it - FUN! Sold it to an old trap shooter and haven't seen it since. I shoot trap with a 16 ga now
Curious - what would you think if someone took a gun/action like this to Wenigs (or another stockmaker) and got a "modern" stock fitted to it??? Prince of wales grip, beavertail and the whole works.... |

Listen to your heart brother. Can see you in the live bird shoot off at Monte Carlo now (and how are you going to explain THIS one to the Dean? ) |

Gentlemen:
I'm not much for a live (pigeon) bird shoot - would relish the chance at a driven shoot. Not sure about the knickers, but do have already an oil finish green jacket (courtesy sierra trading post ). I've even got TWO 16 ga cissytoris just beggin for a loader to fill as fast as I can shoot - maybe the Dean will volunteer |

BC, I did something like that once to an old Stevens 311 20 ga with 26" barrels and open chokes. What I ended up with was a Stevens 311 20 with very nice wood. I suppose you could go the whole 9 yards, re-case color the action, re-blue the barrels . . . and you'd end up with a one of a kind Nitro Special, with a fortune invested in it. |

Hey Larry:
Yup - that would sum it up exactly. I'm sure Wenigs would make it fit though.
I've really got my eye on one of the new 16 ga Lightning Gr Vii in the grayed receiver with 28 inch barrels. Maybe I will call tomorrow (not Mr. Hanus) and reserve one from a dealer I know. Would keep me from putting a fortune in the lefever
Besides, I deserve it! (or at least that's what I think anyway).... |
