Ben -
No, not particularly. I ordered 500 SG16 wads and 20 cardboard shell boxes and shipping was $10.75. Shipping was about 50% of the product cost!
I normally don't much like BPI, but they are the only place I know of that I can get the Gualandi wads, which I believe are the very best for 7/8 oz. load in practically every available 16 ga. hull.
Good luck. |

For 7/8 oz & less, I much prefer the DR16. But to each his own |

Thanks bcprater. I hate how they won't tell you what shipping is until you have all of your info entered. Is Precision Reloading any better on shipping cost?
Thanks,
Ben |

PR being in Mitchell, SD, shipping may not be less costly than from BPI in MN.
Sellers do not want to be schlepping boxes to the USPS so they use national companies. Shipping cost is a factor of the distance from seller to buyer's Zip codes. Using one of the national shippers, USPS, UPS, Fedex etc. includes using a chart with costs from point A zip to Point B zip.
The buyer contributes to the profit center of the national company whose rates are higher than the USPS and the seller is not inconvenienced. For those reasons buying from a distant seller and paying shipping costs is not always the lowest cost of the item. |

I work for USPS. We will pick up, but the shipper has to ask.

Yup, I surely agree with that!
I don't much like the DR16 wad. I find the legs are much too soft and that they are prone to"cock" off-center. I applaude Nick for his hard work in getting the mold built and getting DR to mfg. them. I love it when any new product for the 16 ga. is introduced.
But I just swapped with another 16 ga. shooter/reloader, his SG16 for my DR16 wads.
But like you say, to each his own. |

Anyone who is fortunate enough to be able to purchase 16Ga. hulls ,wads and shells locally or within a reasonable driving distance should consider themselves lucky. For many , Precision Reloading ,Ballistic Products and Graf are the prime sources for these items. Considering the skimpy number of 16Ga. items available to me locally ,I am happy to have what I want delivered to my front door. Also regarding wad preferences ,I have yet to find any single wad that works with all hulls or all different shot weights. For most lighter loads that I put togeather I am very pleased with the DR16. |
