I've spent quite a bit of time online trying to find one source that shows all the various Citori models and what the differences are. But I haven't found anything.
For example: what's the difference between a Gran Lightning and a Lightning?
I looked all over the Browning website and couldn't find it. I would suspect someone, somewhere has a list that describes each flavor of a Citori so a person can understand the subtleties within this very diverse model.
Any suggestions or links or lists?
Thanks,
Lon |

Regular Lightning has Grade I wood, Gran Lightning has Grade VI wood. Otherwise the same gun. |

Thank you, that is very helpful.
Any idea on where to find a complete explanation of all the flavors of Citoris? |

Also the Gran lightning has a matt finish on the wood. It looks a little like an oil finish, but I don't think it is.
The standard lightning has a very glossy finish on the wood.
I much prefer the matt finish, over the glossy. |

Yes, I much prefer the oil, matte finish on shotguns rather than the "bowling pin" or "gym floor" finish.
I guess if you find the right gun for you, it can be refinished to your liking.
There's a Gran Lightning I'm looking at and trying to learn the differences between it and the White Lightnings I already have. It appears the main difference is the blued receiver and nicer wood on the Gran whereas the White Lightning has the silver nitride finish receiver and Grade I wood. I couldn't even find a Gran Lightning listed on Browning's website. |

Yes, I saw Randy's descriptions and it was helpful. Was just hoping to find one source that says this version includes these features and this version includes these different features... |

I’ll give this a shot for you. I am no expert, but I hope this helps. Please correct me if I made a mistake on this. The article above hits all of the target models well, so here are the field models as I understand them.
Citori Lightning Field: Blued Receiver, Grd 1 wood
Citori White Lightning: Silver Nitride Receiver, Grd 1 Wood
Citori Lightning Feather: Alloy Receiver, Grd 1 Wood (typically a more blonde finish), can have POW grip or Straight
Citori Superlight: Alloy Receiver (? Might be wrong on that), Straight English Grip, Grd 1 Wood, snable fore-end
Citori Upland Special: Blued Steel Receiver (? Might be wrong on that), Straight English Grip, Grd 1 Wood, typically 24” barrels
Citori Gran Lightning: Blued Receiver, Grd VI wood, oil finish on wood
Bill Hanus has a good description of the history as well.

Browning Gran Lightnings were NEVER cataloged in 16 gauge . There were two runs, both offering 50 in 26'' tubes and 50 in 28'' tubes . Browning will ever make Grans in 16 again .

Do you have any info on the current value of an unfired, 16 ga. Gran Lightning?
Seems like you are paying more for upgraded wood as compared to a Lightning. |

To continue this post on a different branch
My Citori 16 is marked PP723
I see most are 131s
What are the other numbers and what is that meaning?
http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=32
Thanks
Mike
p.s. I just called the Browning Historian, Glen, and he said it is a 1988 production Citori Lightning |

Hi,
http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=32
The site above does not list a single 16 ga ... but the PP is the date of manufacture P=8 so PP = 88
Don't have a clue about the 723 -- the site does not list 16 ga guns. |

I bought a new 16 gauge Gran Lightning from the 2010 production. The wood is rather plain. I was actually disappointed when I finally received it. Every Gran I have ever seen has had nicer wood than mine. Over a year later and I'm still trying to like it.. |
