I guess the correct terminalogy is exporting a used shotshell reloader to the UK. Anyone have any experience with this or know of any legal constraints? I have not been able to find any thing yet by searching the internet. It all seems to relate to the import/export of firearms themselves.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I'd be real careful on both the export from the US end and the import into the UK end. A couple months ago it went across the wires that there was an outfit that makes - make that "used to make" - oddball caliber rifle brass and got careless about shipping it out of the US and is now under a serious indictment.
I think you need to talk to real experts in this area on both sides of the pond. You might want to post this question over at doublegun forum because a good number of the commenters there are in the UK and/or do import/export to/from the UK. |

I just sent off an e mail to a contact I have in the gun business in Britain.
Soon as he responds I will post his answer here. |

Here is the response I got today from my contact in the UK.
Dear John,
How very pleasing to hear from you and indeed for you to have remembered me.
Unfortunately I was not required after my 65th so as you have discovered my son Sam and I are out on our own with a friend who is a shooting instructor.
I trust you are enjoying your Greener and please remember should you or an of your friends be looking for something special we are here to help.
In answer to your question I can see no problems this side provided no ammunition components are present but clean it very well so there is no powder residue. Declare as second hand sporting goods and ship by UPS
I cannot comment on the regulations your side.
Kindest Regards Barry Wilcox |
