This may be considered a reloading question, but I have a few shotguns that are full choked, from back in the day when that was the standard choke, particularly when waterfowl was the primary use. I don't want to modify the gun/barrels and steel shot is not suitable, so the gun is relagated to waterfowl with $3/shot TM shells. Lead is still an option for upland birds on private property and a gun that patterned modified would be acceptable- so I am wondering if there are methods that I can use to obtain a modidied pattern from a full choke gun. Any ideas? |

I've used the spreader loads, but most of my loads for a wider pattern are still the old stacked loads. |

I was hoping to avoid the spreader inserts, etc and was wondering what affect doing things like clipping the sides off of the wads or using Nitro
Cards and felt/cork spacers would have. I would need to try them to see the affects on my gun but was wondering what other's have found so as not to re-plow the same ground. |

AM - just remember - if an old gun , the chokes were MADE for what you are thinking of doing . Plastic wads were still a dream of some inventor till 64 or so . That's why the concerted effort to undo them ! |
