I just saw the picture of President Obama shooting skeet at Camp David. The picture was said to have been taken in August. I don't know what he carries his shells in,as he has no shell bag or shooting vest. It reminds me of the Clinton duck hunting photos of years ago.

Was anything said about him shooting a 16ga? If not, then what bring it up here?

I saw that.
Blue smoke coming out the end of bbl. and blue smoke out of only the r/h side of a ported bbl. and not the l/h side. I don't see that much blue smoke out of a bbl. even when leaving bbl. oiled after cleaning and forgeting to mop it out before shooting the next session.
He did have eye and ear protection, but the trees looked to close for being a skeet field. I did'nt notice any shooting station or skeet lay out just grass, I backed up the T.V. and paused it, and took a good look at every thing. Maybe what we call pasture trap.

Probably because its shooting related, and made the local news. Probably because this is a shooting board, and the discussion is "general" in nature. Probably because we do have some freedom to stray a bit from the 16ga mantle to converse with others, here. Probably because others will find some interest in the above subject, and have an opinion about it, and we are still allowed to have opinions that differ from others. Probably because some would truly love to believe in their hearts that the leader of the free world has a hobby and past time that is similar to their own.
Just some thoughts. I have an opinion, but, I'm sure you would disapprove of it. By the way, do you have anything "constructive" to add to the conversation? I've noticed the "rolling eyes" emoticon seldom follow anything truly constructive, or helpful.

Best,
Ted

Let me throw this on the table:

Might it be a 16 ga? It looks leaner than at 12 ga but obviously not a 20. He is a tall man so maybe it is a 12, as circumstances would argue.

In any event it is a nicely proportioned arm (Beretta?) with choke tubes, ported barrels, single trigger, and quick mount recoil pad. I've read comments critical about his shooting style, but his hold and posture is virtually identical to my son's, who shoots circles around me and many of my friends.

OK. That's it. Enough smart remarks. If the President of the USA was shooting some form of "skeet" as the media would generically term it, who cares. Ted your not the nicest person and that smart remark is the limit for me. You've always got your 2 cents in and its generally worth less than the Mexicans peso. I've had enough political talk on this site. This is a 16ga forum and since somebody jumped my ass a few years back when I offered a Browning BSS for sale, I'm calling this out. I'm not standing for those kind of alpha male remarks anymore. Say something respectable and not snarky or shut it. You want to kick me off of the site go ahead. I'll gladly send you my shell bag and I'll even pin that 16ga merit badge we all paid for right on your puffed up chest.
Ps . Fin2Feather,it looked like a citori so i hope it was a 16ga. If I offended anyone but TS I sincerely apologize.

Gentlemen, I'm stepping in assert that this thread needs to ramp back. This horse was dead a long time ago. This forum is not going to solve any political or social issues and it's certainly not the place to argue about them.

The topic at hand is 16 gauge guns, their past, present and future. Let's break this off and reassemble at the posts that are on topic.

Regards, --Doug

I think we should all abide by Doug's wishes and keep gun grab politics off this forum. We are all here to celebrate the 16 gauge. Nothing else.

Yes, I believe I do, As Doug has asked us to keep our comments here 16ga-related, I think we are obligated to honor his request.

OK, let's keep the discussion related to 16 ga. I saw the picture being discussed, and there certainly is the possibility the gun is a 16 gauge...or not. But in either case, he shoots like a GIRL!! He may be, as he proclaims, an excellent skeet shooter, but I sure do not think you could prove it by the picture.

There. How's that?? Board police hall monitors satisfied?? Laughing Laughing

There is probably more then one aide kicking around holding a box of shells for him.

Umm ... wouldn't it be a good thing if the President enjoyed shooting the 16 ga.? I'm envisioning an executive order mandating a 16 category in all competitive shotgunning starting this year....

As this picture was posted for strictly political gain, why isn't the post deleted?
