I have one that was bought for my grandfather that was given to him by my daddy and uncle as a gift before he passed away in the late 60`s. My daddy became the heir to it and it sat in his gunsafe until he passed away in the late 80`s. I now am the owner and it is a Model 37 Winchester and I was really surprised on how fast it came to my shoulder and acquiring the target was almost natural. I used it last year on woodducks and it was neat but you had to be on your game as they were slip sliding through the tree tops dropping into the pond! I am getting ready to do some reloading for it soon. The gun was as new when I took possession of it and if he had been fired before I would have been surprised because the bore was pristine. It is a fast handling nice little shotgun! |

Well " You might be right on the extra ounce"!
Although the waterfowl that were crumpled by a load of sixes did not have any complaints!! |

I don't have a 16 single shot , but I have a .410 , 20 and a 12 gauge single , all H&R's and I've taken everything from squirrels to deer with them. I put a lot of miles on the 20 in my youth. Lots of fond memories carrying that gun with my father and our neighbor on countless bunny hunts. |

I have two single shots, a NEF Pardner in 10 gauge and the Model 37 Win.
The first quail I ever shot was with a friend`s 12 gauge Model 37 Win. with high base 7 1/2! " Ouch"! I was about 13 or 14 when that occured! |

" fourtrax",
Does your Model 37 Win. have a full choke barrel? |

I, too, am the proud owner and user of a Winchester Model 37. I inherited it from my Dad, who bought it new in 1941. I"ve used it since I was 12, and love its light weight and responsiveness. I wouldn't hunt with anything else! |

I too am a member of the apostrophe police, and I'm letting you know [there's] a warrant out for your arrest.
Just bought an old "Long Tom" 16 single at auction ($74 shipped). Not sure who the maker is. Don't have it yet, but it looks like it has a 30" long barrel or so, and needs work. Got it to use as a dedicated turkey gun. Going to make it a straight grip, pretty it up a bit, and maybe even shoot a round or two of trap with it. |
