My local Cabelas, Prairie DuChien WI., Had some Herter's 16's on sale for $59.95. 8's & 6's. Been shooting some of these at clays & they seem to break targets just fine if sent to the right address.

I just got a case of these in #8 shot and shot a few today at rocks off of my Trius One Step. Boy, I liked them a lot. Shot them along side of Remington's Game load, also #8. Both broke rocks fine. The part we called "brass" that isn't anymore seemed a bit softer on the Herter's. It conformed to the shape of the bolt face a bit more than Remington's did but they shucked right through my old 870 just fine.
I'd like to talk to someone who had shot the 12 gauge Pheasant loads and see how they were liked.

The Herter's shells are made in Italy by Cheddite. They are available on their website in 16 ga, 1 oz, #8 shot for $59.95 a flat. Most reports on them are fine. You have to dig through the site a little to find them, but they are there.
I ordered a flat of the #5, 1 1/4 oz 12 ga Pheasant loads. I trust Cheddite based on my experience using their componants. At $6.50 a box after tax and free shipping I figure its worth a shot.

A little up-date. As I have shot more of the low brass 1 oz loads,
KEEP THAT CHAMBER CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!
Didn't take long before the old 1954 Remington 870 had trouble pulling the fired case out.
Haven't got to try the 12 gauge high brass .

You need to look on the Cabela's website. They are Herter's shells.

They just happen to be made with Cheddite hulls.

Try this link:

Hope this helps.

The 6's are in a low brass 10mm hull too, which is nice for guns with tight chambers. You can barely reload them for $59.99/flat, not to mention your time. Oddly, I can't find them in 12ga at my local Cabela's, but there are plenty of flats of 20ga and a few flats of 16's also. I may still reload my hunting shells to gain a bit of speed, but then again, I'm sure these would work just fine.

Based upon another thread here I ordered a case of these last month. I've placed another order this morning.

I've used these shells for trap and only have two boxes left of the original case. These shells work just fine for me. I'm not a trap shooter but still shot 24 of 25 last night with my old Marlin mod 90.

On the down side (if you can call it that), even at $59 with shipping and taxes a case is $75. That's $7.50 a box. On the up side I can't find anything like them locally.

I'll be hunting doves with them this next Labor Day. Will see how they do in the field then.

You should consider becoming a Cabela's club member. Shipping is a $5 flat rate.

I just bought 5 more cases last week that came out as $6.45 a box (35 cents a box for tax and 10 cents a box for shipping).

Yeah, you might want to be careful about that Cabela's Club business...

The $5 flat rate shipping is way cheaper than even the gas it would take to drive to my local store, so I've spent more at Cabela's in the last six months than I have in the previous six years! I've bought quite a bit of reloading supplies through the recent panic by just waiting till it shows up on Cabela's website and hitting the buy button. No driving around looking for out of stock stuff all over town.

Plus you earn points on purchases that can be applied to future orders, so it just becomes a self-perpetuating addiction!

Thanks! Good advice. The closest Cabelas is about two hours from me in Louisville. Gasoline cost exceeds shipping. But, since I have a store in the state I have to pay sales tax.

Will give the 'Cabela's club' a try.
