Hello everyone !, thank you very much to morngstar by these references and photos. But now I doubt arises regarding my Auto5; It is a shotgun of Herstal, modified caliber 16/65 to 70 in the barrel and tolerance in the ejection admits ammunition of 16/67. I have the last five years, and he believed that was made in the 50s, but seeing the published references, I think is much older ... His number is 94 792, carries no letter, believed to be a standard model, and according to the table it would be 1933, would it be correct ?.
I have to wait to get a forearm to restore it to a gunsmith shop because the one is pretty bad, with several slits in the wood, but in Spain it is very difficult to get a forearm to the 16-gauge shotgun and Only one option would be to adapt him a forearm Auto5 12 gauge, but I would not stay with the elegance of this beautiful shotgun lines deserve.
Thanks, and greetings from Spain!!!,
Little Mike |

Mike from Spain sent some more pics and wants help with further identification of this gun. Thanks
He thinks it is a 1970s gun. I am surprised the barrel is numbered to the gun. |

Little Mike:
As I understand it, you already own #94792 of 1932 vintage, and want to purchase #23840 in hopes of being able to shoot 70mm ammunition.
It is beyond doubt that 23840 is 10 years older than the shotgun you already own. It may have been converted for 70mm shells--but you only have the sellers word for that, and he thought the gun was from the 1970s. I wouldn't buy this gun without test firing it first.

I am wondering if the vent rib was an add on. Those numbers, the ramped barrel ring, trigger assembly are all 1922 features. The vent rib was not offered until later. The forearm looks much newer. The ramp also looks a little different from the 12ga ramp. Is it stamped "Pluma?" Pluma is not a model or designation for the Browning A5. Could this be a European non-Belgium A5? Mike you also said it has an aluminum trigger guard. Is this confirmed with a magnet? |

The receiver has the FN stamp. I agree that the forearm has been replaced--the wood is totally dissimilar to the buttstock. I think you're right about the rib--it just doesn't look "Browning". Although, I guess I wasn't paying much attention when I was reading about ribs in SV. They seemed so unimportant I didn't even put them in my notes--which is all I have since I loaned my book. As for an aluminum trigger plate, I think it's highly unlikely given the type of safety. |

Hello guys, I recently acquired an A5 16ga in my shop the other day and I'm having trouble figuring out just exactly what I have. Any advice/info would be very much appreciated. I took a few pictures to help out and I can strip part of the gun and take more if needed, just let me know please. Pictures are below.
Thank you for you time. |

Is the number A5282?
and
WELCOME to the site
Fun folks here
Mike
perhaps this
1957 – 1958 Second series of "A" prefix
A Serial Number 01 November 14, 1957 and T Serial Number T229 November 24, 1957
1957-1958 A or T #01 – 10900 A Indicated Sweet Sixteen and T indicated standard 16
so a Sweet 16 made in 1957 or 1958
Y'all correct me please |

So should be a 1958 gun and have the traits of the SWEET
(IF I am correct, what say y'all?)

Hmmm, is it missing the engraving on the fore end then? Possibly not the factory wood for the shotgun? I don't have any markings like the first set of pictures in this thread have. |
