Finally after much looking and discussion, my wife and I decided on The Ruger. We had considered the Franchi O/U in 28 gauge and also the AL 48 but the Ruger fit her better and she had previously shot one. I appreciate everyone's input on the Franchi AL 48 that I had talked about. I actually had the guy at the store holding the AL 48 for me but I went back and put down on the Ruger instead. After closely examining the Franchi AL48, I did not like the way the gun had to be unloaded from the magazine. I thought it was too much for my wife to have to mess with. This coming from someone who shoots A5'S where you can just rack them out. I guess if you started out with one. Kind of like trying to go from an 870 pump to a Ithaca or vice versa. Too much to think about. I have heard that is probably the only downfall of the AL 48. It was a nice looking gun with A grade Walnut but I know the Ruger will work out better for her. Now at least I have another gun to shoot if she allows. |
