I like the six star crimp for my preference. I seems to me that the crimp stays more uniform after several rounds.
Most of mine are 8 star from my single formed AA hulls. But when I load with brand new hull I stay with 6 star.

Six point crimp will be easier and involve less 'trauma' to the shell mouth. For new hulls I would strongly recommend that you use the all brass CRIMP STARTER offered by Cabela's (or Ballistic Products). Crimps will be significantly better on new hulls using this tool.

I presume you are going to be using either new Fiocchi or the BPI Multi-Hulls since those are the only new hulls out on the market.
If you are not going to be using one of the separate crimp starters, then the six point crimp is the way to go. I did about 500 BPI's and about 200 Fiocchi's last year. I experimented with both 6 and 8 point crimps and both hulls worked better with 6 point. I ran the shell up into the crimp starter twice before doing final crimping. As stated earlier, there is not as much stress on the hull with a 6 point crimp.
Since then, I have bought one of the crimp starters in 6 point. It makes a little more uniform crimp, but I am not sure that it was worth the money and the extra step involved. You will have to try yourself, but I would try the hulls in your reloader first. I did my cases on a single stage machine where I could double start the cases in the crimp starter. If you are using a progressive machine, then the separate crimp starter would be the way to go.
