I would like to put together a fun shoot in May 2014 for 16 gauge shooters. I am looking at a club in a suburb of the Twin Cities. Here is how I am envisioning this shoot:
- 16 gauge guns of any type. Auto loader, sxs, pump, bolt action or single shot.
- Sporting clays, 5 stand and vintage skeet (gun down with delay and report pairs instead of singles)
- No score keeping, just shooting for fun!
- Lewis class with random drawings. Could do without this.
I just want a bunch of guys who enjoy their guns, shooting and good company to come together and celebrate sweet 16. This club has great food and is near the Mall of America so your better half can be entertained if you wish. Anyone interested?
Thanks
Jeff |

Yes, that sounds like a good time. It's a busy time in my line of work, but I would definitely make an effort to attend. |

Jeff,
You know you can count on me to help with this. I will spread the word among the sxs guys I know. I know of a few Sweet 16 A5 guys that may not have had their guns out of the safe for a while too.

Depends on when in May, have turkey hunting and graduations, but would be interested if it is at a time I don't have prior obligations. |

OK, I'm stumped. How do you do a Lewis class if you don't keep score? Anyway sounds like fun. Assume you are talking about Minneapolis Gun Club? |

Just hang a piņata from a tree and whoever can blow it open gets the innards. |

Be careful of both the fishing opener and Mother's Day dates. Are you thinking the H&H Club? Count me in. |

Okay, okay it's not a Lewis-just a random drawing. Don't even need that part of it. I just want some people to get together, shoot, fondle shotguns and have fun. I am thinking about South Saint Paul gun club. Very shooter friendly and will bend over backwards to make customers happy. I am trying to find the perfect date but that is impossible in Minnesota in late spring and summer. We could always do it I early March:)
Regards

Jeff - while there's a long winter between now and May, see if you can at least get a couple of tentative dates on here. Then folks that are active with family affairs, business trip planning, Spring fishing, etc., and just those that are calendar groupies can get an idea of the time to commit for the general dates. An early notice will help avoid conflicts for those that really want to be a part of your idea.
May 16 is a Friday. If you had it on the Saturday, we could claim we had two 16s in the month.
Obviously, it would help retain enthusiasm for the event and keep peace within the XVI family. |

Looking at dates that do not interfere with Mother's day, the fishing opener and other sxs shoots it looks like May 17th/18th would work. Again, not set in stone yet and that is why I am posting now.
Thanks,
Jeff |

Those dates coincide with the annual Vern Aanenson Memorial registered skeet shoot at Minneapolis Gun Club. I'm hoping the dates change for your 16 ga event, even if the venue turns out to be South St. Paul Rod & Gun, another club fairly close to airport and Mall of America. Anyway, I'm shooting the Vern, but would really like to shoot the 16 ga event also. |
