Where are things at with the 7/8 claybuster wad. Is it still on going or went by the wayside.[/u] |

Bill,
The last time I checked with Claybuster, they had these wads in stock but no one had developed reloading recipes so Claybuster wasn't shipping them out.
Also, I received a couple dozen of them for testing and I believe they will make a nice 7/8 ounce load in the RGL hulls as Dogchaser had reported but this wad will be better suited for a one ounce load in the larger capacity hulls (unless you want to use a filler).

Got the 7/ 8 oz wads. Loaded for1oz. Still had to add cherrio . But made nice looking 1 oz . Their wad is in their advertising catalog.
Preformed good on trap from the 24 yrd. with 49 out of 50. I would think with 7/8 the crimp would be very deep without much filler. |

The original WW16AA wad was designed for one ounce loads when used specifically with the original 16 ga. AA compression formed case. The AA case had tapered hull walls and less capacity than any of today's polyformed cases (except for the Remington RGL hull).
When loaded into any of today's 16 ga. Federal or Cheddite type polyformed cases, the original WW16AA and Claybuster clone wads will easily accommodate 1-1/8 ounce shot loads w/o any problem. So it comes as no surprise the 7/8 ounce Claybuster version will work well for a 1 ounce load when used with the same polyformed hulls.
The solution is to go with the DR16 wad for lighter shot loads. It's design is based on the WW16AA wad, but has a shot cup which will accommodate 3/4 and 7/8 ounce loads w/o having to resort to filler wads. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Why not use what already works? |

Do they look like they might fit better in. 2.5" case? How tall are they overall? |

They should work (fillerless) in a Rem. Game Load hull, right? Anyone try it yet? |

They just might work for a 7/8 ounce load Dave, but probably will need a filler wad for 3/4 ounce. The bump might present problem. I will probably ask for a few samples to see. I'll let you know when I've tried them. |

I stii need filler added with adding 1 oz of shot using claybuster 7/8 wad. The shot fill the wad to the top but not over the edge of the pedals. If I don't want the crimp dished in I need a filler. Bill |

Or maybe a shorter shell. Can you measure and report the overall height of the wad itself? |
