Hi all, need some more help here (as always!!). I'm trying to get a nice hunting load for some of my 16's, found one that calls for Win 209 primers, but I have pre-primed Cheddite hulls with Cheddite 209 primers.
Is it okay to use these hulls with the Cheddite Primers instead of the Win 209's?
The recipe says the load with Win 209's will produce 10,300psi
Thanks so much!!!!!!

Hi Mike, here it is:
23 grn 800X
Z-16 Wad
1 1/16oz payload
Cheddite Hull (Pre-primed)
Recipe calls for Win 209 primer of course
1300fps and 10300p
I did adjust the final crimp down and the crimping problem I had (coming open) is no more. Getting some very nice even crimps now.
Thanks again for your help!!!

I have used Chedite Primers in place of Winchesters. BP says the are the same. and it makes sense as Winchester Has loaded Chedite primed hulls for theirDove and Quail loads for years. |

Thanks all, well I'm just going to keep it simple, stay with the recipe and knock out the Cheddite's and re-prime with the Winchesters.
I'm getting waaay to anal with this load. I think the KISS system applies here.
Thanks again!!!

Hope this isn't too late--Save yourself the hassle of de/repriming and load w/the Cheds.I have loaded tens of thousands as a sub for the W209 in five gauges without any problems. |

I regularly sub Cheddite primers for Win 209 and haven't found any fault with the loads or their ignition - or increased recoil which would indicate higher pressures. After the 5,000 were gone, I went back to my Win 209s. Several of the trap shooters I hang with also sub Cheddites. They won't however, sub well for Fed 209A primers. |

Are you certain? I was under the impression the factors affecting recoil were the weight and speed of the projectile(s). And that Pressure can increase or decrease regardless of recoil. |

Here we go again.
Pressure has nothing to do with recoil. |
