Don't know much about guns....but the wood fit to the bottom of the action, both sides, could be better. The forearm wood fit to the action on the top right side looks like it has damage or something. The wood, although nice, doesn't seem particularily nicely figured. For $12,000 + ???
I'd go for a custom Browning 16ga. Heritage myself, but maybe I'm wrong.
But it is your birthday, let me check my wallet.

Interesting. A checkered butt is not something i'd expect on a Perazzi. That's a "win the lottery" pick of several. |

It's not a little gun-probably 7.25 to 7.5#, but no one builds a finer o/u. The build quality and handling are superb. Just another way to enjoy the 16 gauge.
Regards

7 lbs 4 oz - 7 lb 8 oz = 2,000 lbs
Is that the NEW Math? |

That gun will weigh quite a bit. I'd rather have a Krieghoff sidelock in a dural frame.....6 lbs 3/4 oz ....buy one used for $3000.....with the engraving. |

I have a nice wood rasp in the basement that will take off all those "squiggly" lines in the stock! |

When Bruce Buck reviewed the Essencia he said it was one of the few expensive guns he had seen that was worth it's price.

According to Perazzi USA, the MX-16 is no longer offered. The MX-20 is still currently available. The web site does not list gun weights (for obvious reasons), so a direct inquiry is needed. Be prepared for the answer. These guns are not lightly built.
Best keep in mind, all Perazzi O/U models are built like panzer tanks. They are not delicately designed to save weight. They are meant to last forever...and they do. But it requires the guns to be heavily built, and they are. My two trap models are as tough as the hubs of hell, and heavy as deadly sin too. No problem. I'd never lug them through the game fields. They are used for crushing clay targets, which they do to perfection w/ style to boot. This because all Perazzi double gun barrels for either type are regulated to perfection and are as accurate as the judgement of God.
Several years ago, I hefted a Perazzi MX-16, hunting/sporting model w/ 28 inch barrels off a vender's used rack at our state trap shoot. This one felt like it easily weighed over 7.5 pounds. The "El Cheapo" fish weighing scale the vender had on hand showed it was over 8 pounds, but those things are not accurate. I suspect 7.75 pounds is close to accurate, but 8 pounds would not surprise me either.
Plan on bringing a very heavy wallet w/ you too. Perazzis never come cheap. Just how it is. |
