if i reload a 16ga hull with a 1 1/8oz schedule, can i short load and only load 1 oz of lead. What should i explicit.

example

16ga Winchester 2 3/4 hull, 1 1/8 oz lead shot, 19g sr7625 powder, win 209 primer, sp16 wad, 1150 velocity, 10,900 pressure psi

Following this schedule but instead of loading 1 1/8 oz lead, i want to load 1oz lead

what results should i expect

Hello jcm
and
Welcome on your first posting

Maybe this will help

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0At1GjTxK0YbudHdQdEUtLWJwbVNyZVNudVF0MGk2WFE&gid=12

or

and click on FILES

Just arbitrarily shortening the hull and dropping the shot charge can lead to issues.

If a receipe is available then try to use it

Mike

Just use 22 grains of powder. Should be just fine. Are you using the Win CF hull?

A little more velocity and less pressure , may be a bad fit though .

when you read 16GG talk about adding a 28ga card wad or 2 , this is probably one of those . What I have avail is some really old 28ga plastic wads that are of little use except : I cut the powder cup off and use that in the wad as a filler to get back to a more correct crimp depth .

There is a recipe for one ounce recipe using 7625, why not just try it?
WW CF 1 oz. SR7625 22gr Win 209 Rem SP-16 1250 Lyman 5th

I expect that pressure should not be a problem, but you will need at LEAST one 28 ga. .125" thick card wad in the bottom of the wad.

Better yet, go with a R16 wad and IMR7625, with a Federal 209P which is the load I use. It's in the data base.
