Saw this and just had to post it. A 1966 Federal Ammunition ad esposing the power of purple (and red and yellow).

A very smart practice, I wish the shell companies hadn't gotten away from it. Only the 20 guage has stayed uniformly yellow. |

That's because anyone who selects a 20 over a 16 is yellow. |

I hope "they" don't decide color coding was such a good idea with 20 gauge shells that "they" extend the idea to metallic ammunition- "they'd" run out of colors before they ran out of dangerous mixing combinations- leaving the only "safe" solution: legislation banning those cartridges that could be mixed. |
